Amino acids

Can be given in form of suppositories, as oral supplement or intravenously, together with other supplements. Traditionally they have been used in lead poisoning, because they have an ability to bind heavy metals. Free radicals form in the presence of heavy metals and that is why it is important for your health to eliminate them from your body.

Ayurveda

is an ancient Hindu system of health care. The word "Ayurveda" translates as the "knowledge of life" or even "science of life”. It deals with measures for healthful living during the entire span of life and its various phases. Besides dealing with principles for maintenance of health, it has also developed a wide range of therapeutic measures to combat illness. These principles of positive health and therapeutic measures relate to physical, mental, social and spiritual welfare of human beings. Thus Ayurveda becomes one of the oldest systems of health care dealing with both the preventive and curative aspects of life in a most comprehensive way. Ayurveda divides the constitution of people into three humoral cathegories: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each of them has its special and unique qualities, which affect our life. The way we think, act, solve problems and conflicts, learn and express ourselves are all examples of how our constitution affects our life. According to Ayurveda, the constitution determines which health problems one can get and what happens to us does not happen accidentally, there is always a cause and a result. These relations are easier to understand if we learn about are constitution.

Bath and Sauna

In our little SPA you can get bath with salt or essential oils in modern bubble baths equipped with ozone cleansing and colour therapy. Besides relaxation, bath and sauna give your body a possibility to absorb the active ingrediens through the skin. In this way, the treatments are both pleasant and beneficial. A small sauna, a steam shower and a far infrared sauna are available.

Body Vibe

The Body Vibe machine is of benefit to the average person, but particularly those who suffer from diseases like MS or arthritis. It is an important part in rehabilitation as it increases bone density, serotonin level, blood circulation, muscle mass, uptake of cellular oxygen, cleans lymphatics. It decreases cortisol, improves your balance and makes you feel generally better.

Colon Hydrotherapy

Colo hydrotherapy is an extended form of abn enema. The concept involves the mechanical process of infusing warm filtered water into the rectum with the objective of cleansing and normalizing the colon. This procedure, although not to be seen as a cure-all, removes fecal material from the colon walls and dilutes the bacterial toxin concentration of the large intestine. Intestinal muscle tone is improved, which helps to facilitate the peristaltic action. The cleansing effects of colon hydrotherapy reduce stagnation and subsequent bacterial proliferation in the colon and maintain harmony of the intestinal flora.

Facial Reflexology

Face reflexology is a unique combination that unites traditional healing methods from the Orient and South America with the modern science of neurology.
Your face is richly supplied with nerves and blood vessels. Its close proximity to the brain - the control centre of the body - ensures that stimulus to your face has the shortest route to this important organ of your body, in order to effect a re-balancing of your health issues.
Face Reflexology is deeply relaxing. Daily use of your face to laugh, chew, talk, grimace, frown, express and suppress emotion, all result in an accumulation of facial muscle tension that the deep releasing strokes of face reflexology will steadily dissipate - achieving a corresponding improvement in your health.
As a complementary therapy, face reflexology is addressing all aspects of an individual: emotional, physical and mental. Therefore any imbalance of the body can benefit from Face Reflexology.

Far infrared light

Infrared light lies between the visible and microwave portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Infrared light has a range of wavelengths, just like visible light has wavelengths that range from red light to violet. "Near infrared" light is closest in wavelength to visible light and "far infrared" is closer to the microwave region of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Far infrared waves are thermal. In other words, we experience this type of infrared radiation every day in the form of heat. The heat that we feel from sunlight, a fire or another person is infrared. It penetrates into the tissue and has many positive effects on your health. It is for example used to keep newborn babies warm.
Researchers have found that far infrared (FIR) energy appears capable of enhancing functions of white blood cells. These functions include increased immune defense response in which white blood cells surround and ingest small living things (such as bacteria) and cell wastes.

It is perceived by the body as a gentle healing heat, shifting your metabolism into a mode similar to exercise. You begin to sweat, burn fat, energy and toxins at a rapid rate. Far infrared waves penetrate deep into the cells of your body, generating a beneficial warming effect that stimulates healing, draining of the lymphatic system and eliminating heavy metals, drug residues, environmental pollutants, allergens and toxins - purifying the cells, glands, organs and tissues from deep within.

FIR saunas are believed to yield many benefits - including significant detoxification from heavy metals including mercury, relief from different kinds of pain; stimulation of immune response; improvements in skin tone and conditions such as burns, eczema and acne; as well as the accelerated burning of calories.

At Santa Monica we have also the Mag-Ray Lamp. It is a new type of therapeutic and health device promoting metabolism, regulating physiological deficiency, diminishing inflammation and easing pain. The Mag-Ray Lamp has proven extraordinarily effective in treating numerous ailments such as muscular soreness and pain, soft tissue injuries, arthritis and various skin conditions.

Homeopathy

The word homeopahy comes from the Greek homoios (similar) and pathos (suffering or disease), and its basic idea is that “like cures like”, which means that an ill person can be treated using a substance that can produce, in a healthy person, symptoms similar to those of the illness. Homeopathy developed by the end of the 18th century in Germany, where it is still being practised. Homeopathy sees a patient as a whole on three levels: the mental one, the emotional one and the physical one. The therapy is based on an analysis of subjective symptoms. This means that it is the sum of all symptoms that makes up the patient’s disease and each case should be treated individually. The different substances used are to stimulate the body’s ability to cure itself.

Infusions

Supplements intravenously and circulation promoting infusions are also a part of the treatment.

Laser

Laser brings in oxygen to the cells. It stimulates the lymphatic system, pulling edema and inflammation from the area. ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) production is stimulated in the cells helping them have the energy to function normally and speeding up healing processes. The pain reflex is broken, offering immediate relief of pain.

Light therapy

Light therapy or phototherapy consists of exposure to daylight or to specific wavelengths using very bright, full-spectrum light, for a prescribed amount of time and, in some cases, at a specific time of day. It has proven effective in treating Acne vulgaris, seasonal affective disorder, and is part of the standard treatment regimen for delayed sleep phase syndrome. It has recently been shown effective in non-seasonal depression.
3 to 4% of people in Sweden suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD). It causes problems with concentration and depression. People suffering from this disorder feel often tired even if they have no sleeping problems. It is also common that they feel sugar cravings and weight gain is often a problem. SAD has many different causes, one of them can be that the eyes get too little light during winter season. Light therapy is an accepted method for treating SAD. It is given in special rooms equipped with fluorescent tubes giving a broad spectrum light. The walls, floor and ceiling are white, so is the furniture and the patients´ clothes. Many notice a positive effect after 4 – 5 days of treatment (2 hours a day), but in some cases regular use for a longer period of time is required.

Massage

Massage is an important part of the treatment as it relaxes tense muscles. That increases well-being and speeds up healing processes. Massage is given if the patient´s condition allows it and where it fits in the treatment schedule. At the treatment centre we have an Ergo Line Hydro Jet massage bed, where the patient can decide the length and intensity of the treatment. Classic massage can also be booked with our masseur.

Oxygen

Oxygen is administered in many different ways and it is a ground for life and good health. Most of the imbalances that occur, are related to insufficient oxygenation of the tissues (for instance rheumatic diseases, muscle pain). It is known today that inflammations, cell mutations, virus and bacteria thrive without oxygen.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO)

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) is a medical treatment by which oxygen is administered at greater than normal pressure to a patient in order to treat specific medical indications. Long established as the primary therapy in the treatment of medical disorders such as carbon monoxide poisoning and gas gangrene, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is now increasingly being used on an adjunctive basis in the management of a variety of disorders. HBO has been shown to be particularly effective in treating problem wounds, chronic bone infections and radiation injury.

In Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy, the patient is placed in a specially designed chamber, the pressure in the chamber is increased, and 100% oxygen is breathed. Alveolar oxygen pressure is increased, causing a rise in plasma oxygen content which results in enhanced tissue oxygen delivery. The amount of pressure increase and the length of time under pressure are determined by the condition being treated. Treatment pressures are usually between 2 and 3 times atmospheric.

There are portable hyperbaric chambers, which are used for home treatment. These are usually referred to as "mild hyperbaric chambers", which is a reference to the lower pressure of soft-sided chambers. Those go up to 4.1 PSI, which is equivalent to a water depth of 11 ft. These chambers are operated with oxygen concentrators or with 100% oxygen as the breathing gas.

These portable hyperbaric chambers were originally developed and used for altitude sickness. The benefits of hyperbaric chambers to a number of other conditions such as autism, lyme disease, cancer, stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, cardiac conditions, brain injury, and other immunodeficiency disorders do have research and case studies to substantiate the effectiveness.

Recent studies have also shown that hyperbaric at a lower pressure for a period of 6 months or more is more effective for most conditions as the mild chambers have an immune modulating effect.

Supplementation

Vitamin and mineral supplements are the base in the treatment of most of the conditions in order to restore good health. They are administered orally or in intravenous infusions in idividually adjusted doses. Injections are used sometimes, for example mistletoe extracts. Many different immune regulating factors are used, e.g. herbs, fatty acids (fish oil and flax oil), probiotics and combinations of various vitamins, trace minerals and amino acids.
Natural remedies containing substances which have shown an effect in treating pain and inflammation are used if needed.
Orthodox medicines are used to some extent and most often can be combined with our supplements. If you use prescription medicines, you should not stop using them without consulting your doctor.
